T h e c u r r e n t t r e n d s i n t h e d e v e l o p m e n t o f i n t e r c u l t u r a l i s m h a s e m e r g e d t h e d i l e m m a w h a t t o d a y ' s i n t e r c u l t u r a l i s m i s . C o n sequently this dilemma raised the task to redefine the definition and content of intercultural education and pedagogy. Interculturalism in Europe and in the world has its historical role in changing social attitudes, political thinking and educational paradigm, in creating the new philosophy, educational and cultural reality. Under the impact of the processes of globalization, europeanization, mobility, global market and internalization, together with the permanent world-wide turbulences, frictions and wars, interculturalism has left its primary migratory framework and it has become the relevant and integral component in almost all fields of the entire society. 2. During the last decades the development of interculturalism and intercultural education it has been an evident lack of the creative and mutual correlation between intercultural theory and intercultural practice. Interculturalism has also encountered a number of political and ideological opponents and professional misinterpretations. The fact is that intercultural principles are not fully integrated in the school systems and that interculturalism is often treated like one of alternatives, which has to be developed within the NGO sector. One of the reasons is a rather long trend of strictly academic, highly sophisticated approach to interculturalism in the research and theoretical elaborations, without the direct links with multicultural reality and intercultural practice. That is why the critical and rational discourse has to be initiated on establishing the new reciprocal relation between intercultural researchers and practioners aiming at developing the creative linking of intercultural policy, theory, research and practice with the objective to define the new comprehensive approach to interculturalism. 3. New tendencies and changes in the development of interculturalism are evident particularly in the dominance of intercultural communication and its variants - new interculturalism, business interculturalism, industrial interculturalism, managing diversity, evolving global society etc. The new profession - interculturlists - has been introduced, which is not equal to earlier belonging to the intercultural human movement. There is a saying that Ћinterculturalism has been soldЛ to the business corporative philosophical doctrine. This new phase in the development of the interpretation of intercultural competence has to be analyzed, particularly because it caused academic and operational terminological confusion. ЋThe White Paper on Intercultural Dialogue: Living Together as Equals in DignityЛ, which was adopted by the Council of Europe's Ministers of Foreign Affairs in Strasbourg in May 2008, is a political document of the great importance for the reaffirmation of interculturalism in Europe. ЋThe White PaperЛ, as well as UNESCO's ЋConvention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural ExpressionsЛ from 2005, proclaimed the intercultural dialogue as the fundamental issue in recognizing and managing diversity and creating social cohesion at all levels. It consists, sublimazes and offers the new conceptual and political fundaments for the improvement of intercultural philosophy, so its active implementation has to be in the focus of interculturalists and their national/regional/international organizations of various provenance. 4. The main features of the future development of interculturalism are: - To redefine intercultural theory corresponding to the actual achievements and with the respect to the results of intercultural practice, - To implement intercultural principles in the entire society, starting with the new relevant political decisions and legislation, provision of institutional and financial resources and giving the principal role to the intercultural education, training and learning, - To prepare and to adopt the new internationally agreed documents on the fundamental issues of l Є ( , q t § n '!
