To reach this objective the following problems should be solved. 1. To define, in what degree items of questionnaire are compatible, that is, whether really all of them measure the same latent variable - tolerance and if necessary to modify a used set of indicators. 2. To measure level of tolerance of students participating in survey depending on their department and gender. The latent variable tolerance is defined operationally, i.e. through a set of indicators (items of questionnaire) which are various aspects of tolerance. There was used questionnaire developed by Stepanov P.V. (Stepanov P.V. Training of tolerance o f s e c o n d a r y - s c h o o l s t u d e n t s : t h e o r y , t e c h n i q u e , d i a g n o s t i c s . - : 2 0 0 3 . - 8 4 p . ) . T h e m e a s u r e m e n t w a s d o n e i n t h e f r a m e w o r k o f t h e t h e o r y o f l a t e n t v a r i a b l e b a s e d o n R a s c h m o d e l . F o r t h i s p u r p o s e d i a l o g u e s y s t e m R U M M 2 0 2 0 ( R a s c h U n i d i m e n s i o n a l M e a s u r e m e n t M o dels) was used. The obtained results: 1. Items of questionnaire are compatible. It means that all items define the same latent variable, namely tolerance. 2. The results of measurement show that tolerance of students varies in rather broad interval: from -2.0 logits to +2.0 logits. ANOVA showed that there is a highly significant difference among tolerance of boys and girls (p < 0.01). The boys are more tolerant (-0.09 Б 0.49 logits) than girls (-0.357 Б 0.29 logits).
